The average cost of eight days' parking at a UK airport in September 2026 is £36 on the cheapest available product with a code applied. Heathrow is the most expensive at £47 and East Midlands the cheapest at £30. The spread across mainstream airports is £17.
One booking, priced the same way at every airport: eight days, departing within 30 days, on the cheapest product available at that airport, with a 20% public code applied. No loyalty rates, no eligibility discounts, no airport-specific promotions.
Holding the method constant is what makes the airports comparable. A great deal of published airport parking comparison mixes stay lengths, booking windows and product types in a way that makes the resulting table meaningless. This one does not, and where a figure cannot be sourced consistently we leave the row out rather than estimate it.
The headline is that the gap between the cheapest and most expensive mainstream UK airport is £17 on an eight-day stay — smaller than most travellers assume, and much smaller than the gap between products at a single airport. Birmingham's own two car parks differ by £38, more than double the entire national spread.
That is the most useful finding in this table and it points somewhere specific: choosing the right product at your airport matters roughly twice as much as choosing a cheaper airport. Anyone driving further to save money on parking is almost certainly making a bad trade once fuel is counted.
The regional pattern is real but modest. London airports average £41, the North £35, Scotland £36 and the Midlands £34. Heathrow is the outlier that pulls London upward; Stansted at £33 is cheaper than several regional airports.
These figures are a benchmark, not a quote. Airport car parks price by yield, so the number you see for your dates will differ from the number here — sometimes considerably, particularly in school holidays. What the index is useful for is judging whether a price you have been quoted is roughly normal for that airport.
If you are quoted 50% above the figure in this table for a comparable stay, you are probably booking too late or looking at the wrong product tier. That is the check this page is designed to support.
